2023 Rheumatology Clinical Update: Pre-Course Activity

This is the pre-course component of Rheumatology Clinical Update Course 2023. Participants of this course are REQUIRED to complete the pre-course activity before going to the face-to-face sessions.

 

ABOUT THE COURSE

This program aims to update practitioners in a wide variety of areas of Rheumatology relevant to general practice including: lupus, spondyloarthropathy, rheumatologic emergencies, and investigations. New additions include an approach to Fibromyalgia. Back by popular demand a physical exam and joint aspiration sessions. Updated session including COVID 19 vaccinations and treatment as well as medication management in the COVID19 patient with rheumatic disease. Registration is limited.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the course, participants will be equipped to:

  • Recognize rheumatologic emergencies and how to refer for appropriate care
  • Examine for and aspirate a knee effusion
  • Recognize inflammatory back pain on history
  • Identify mild and life threatening lupus manifestations
  • Identify what labs are useful in referring and monitoring Rheumatology patients
  • Review the COVID19 Vaccine and treatment guidelines for autoimmune disease patients
