Course Overview
This course provides evidence-based, up to date information on clinical topics relevant to health practitioners in a rural emergency environment. Through a combination of plenary lectures, small group interactive sessions and workshops, participants with review, and build off of, current best practices, guidelines, tools and techniques for assessing and managing emergent patients – from pre-hospital, to rural emergency rooms.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this course, learners will be equipped to:
- Develop enhanced assessment, diagnostic, and management skills for emergency patients presenting in a rural emergency environment.
- Determine patients who can be optimally managed in a rural setting while creating awareness of local resources for clinical management, and determine those who require transfer to urban center’s.
- Build community of practice through discussion and collective learning during shared learning experiences.
Who Should Attend
Any healthcare practitioner who may come into contact with a patient with emergent medical issues in a rural environment including; Family Physicians, Emergency Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Other Healthcare Professionals, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Residents, and Physician Assistants, in Rural Practice
