Standards of Practice QI

Standards of Practice Quality Improvement (QI) involves aligning your clinical practice with the regulatory standards set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). This ensures that your practice meets established guidelines, enhances compliance, and addresses any gaps to uphold the highest levels of patient care and safety.

Choose Your Data Source for Standards of Practice QI

Make a decision based on time and availability. This course has a built-in tool that will help use the CPSA’s Standard of Practice questionnaires to generate your data.

SUPPORT for PPIP: Self-Reflection Tool for Data-informed QI
How can the SUPPORT for PPIP Tool for Data-informed QI generate data for the CPSA's Standards of Practice QI activity?

The data generation tool in the SUPPORT for PPIP  requires you to review a minimum of 10 patient charts  and answer questions based on the CPSA’s Standards of Practice. You will not be asked to input any identifiable patient information. As you go through your records, ensure that you are consistently reflecting on the information and using it to drive meaningful changes in your practice.

There are alternative ways to gather data for your Standards of Practice QI activity. To explore these ways, please refer to the CPSA’s Standards of Practice resources section.
